Former York Catholic basketball player Amanda Weaver is recovering from surgery for colon cancer. I've been told she's cancer-free; though she's had a few complications from surgery.

Weaver, 24, played collegiately at the University of Hartford.

On Saturday, October 13, York Unity Sports is putting on the Weaver Fever 3-on-3 basketball tournament at York College, to benefit the Weaver family and the American Cancer Society.

Here is more information, courtesy of York Unity Sports:

At 6:30, the Fighting Irish team, coached by Andy Bria, will play the Capital Area All-Stars, coached by Denny Bavaria. At 7:30, the York Catholic girls will face the York County All-Stars, coached by York Suburban's Bob Rudisill.

Appearing for the York Catholic team will be Megan Stewart, Danielle Colombo, Schuyler Merritt, Lindsey Marks, Shannon Bilyeu, Kelly Rhein, Ashton Bankos, Steph Carr, Brittany Hicks, Carly Marks, Mary Kurnat Manlove, Emily Falvey, and Coach Sue Reed.

The Capital Area stars team will include Red Lion's Marley and Samantha Klunk, Katie Warehime of Littlestown, Lewistown's Hannah Geddey and Jenny Cunningham, and Casey Stanton of Cumberland Valley.

The York County team will be comprised of Meredith Cox of Delone, Susquehannock's Brianna Lucas and Andrea Hoover, Brie Dohm of Eastern, Steph Frysinger of Central, Laura Harkins of Spring Grove, York High's Jasmine Byers and April Collier, and Dallastown's Chelsea Shearer, Carly Smith, Jenna Miller, and Kelly Guise.
