Jed Morris' annual bowling event to help local cancer survivors rolls on.
Morris, a former Lancaster Barnstormers player and founder of You and Me on a Comeback, has recruited former teammates, fans and fellow survivors for an afternoon of bowling on January 14 at Leisure Lanes in Mountville, Lancaster County.
You and Me on a Comeback is an organization that focuses on the well-being and full-spectrum rehabilitation of people who are in remission after having gone through treatments associated with beating cancer. Morris, a cancer survivor, came up with the idea for You and Me on a Comeback shortly after being diagnosed with leukemia in 2006.
CBS 21 News profiled Jed and his courageous battle with cancer in 2009. He was originally a 36th-round selection by Oakland in the 2002 draft.

The lanes are ready for some strikes and some Barnstormers pitchers will hopefully be throwing some down the lanes. You and Me on a Comeback founder and cancer survivor, Jed Morris, who played for the Lancaster Barnstormers during the 2009-2010 seasons, has recruited former teammates, fans and fellow survivors for an afternoon of bowling on January 14 at Leisure Lanes.
“The past year we have done amazing things for the cancer community and developed great relationships throughout Lancaster to help us in our mission,” Morris said. “This year we continue to strive to enrich the lives of cancer patients and survivors and hope to make this the biggest Bowlerama to date.”
Jody Plymire, a cancer survivor has seen the benefits of You and Me on a Comeback. During the course of the year she has received a complimentary membership to the Lancaster YMCA, healthy food courtesy of Kegel’s Produce, Nuts About Granola and Dream Dinners. She has enjoyed discounts on massages and other benefits to help her during her cancer recovery.
For the third year, 101.3 The Rose is the presenting partner, with the main event, the Rose Roll-Off capping off the evening. Representatives from both the Lancaster Barnstormers and York Revolution will go head to head for an offseason War of the Roses battle. Last year the Revolution took home the trophy for the Rose Roll off and finished off their year by winning the 2011 Atlantic League Championship.
In addition to the Rose Roll-Off the event will feature prize drawings, a raffle and auction.

“You and Me on a Comeback is still a very new organization, and the Bowlerama is a great way for people to learn more about the organization,” Morris said.
Morris has been working tirelessly for the last three years to bring his survivorship program to Lancaster. He hopes to have a facility where cancer patients who are in between treatments and going back to work can receive instruction on a healthy lifestyle, including diet, exercise, spirituality, community interaction, emotional counseling and group activities.
You and Me on a Comeback Bowlerama is being held at Leisure Lanes in Mountville on January 14 with bowling times at 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The cost is $50 for a five-person team. To register a team or make a donation to You and Me on a Comeback visit www.youandmeonacomeback.org.
