Former Phillies pitcher Steve Carlton, one of the best left-handed hurlers of our time, is signing autographs at the grand opening of another Ollie's Bargain Outlet in Berks County.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Bargain shoppers and Phillies fans, the countdown is on for the grand opening of the second Ollie’s Bargain Outlet store in Berks County. Bargain shoppers can explore unbeatable deals and 250 lucky fans will have the opportunity to meet MLB Hall of Famer and former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Steve Carlton.
The growing chain, known for unbeatable closeouts and “Good Stuff Cheap”, will officially open the doors of its newest store at 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 17. The newest Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is located in the former Weis Markets on 3240 North Fifth Street in Muhlenberg, by the Fairground Square Mall.
Folks should arrive plenty early for a chance to meet Carlton. Beginning at 7:30 a.m., 250 tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis (limit one per person). At 10 a.m., ticket holders will be able to meet and have their photo taken with Carlton, as well as have him autograph one piece of their own memorabilia.

Steve “Lefty” Carlton pitched for six different teams throughout his 23 year career, but it was during his time with the Philadelphia Phillies that he received his greatest acclaim. He was the first pitcher to win four Cy Young awards in a career, has the second-most lifetime strikeouts of any left-handed pitcher, and the second-most lifetime wins of any left-handed pitcher. Between 1982 and 1984 he held the lifetime strikeout record several times. The Phillies retired his number 32 and honored him with a statue outside of Veterans Stadium, which was later moved to Citizens Bank Park. In 1994, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame with 96% of the vote, one of the highest percentages ever.
