SI.com has taken an in-depth look into this year’s Penn State football recruiting class.
According to an email I got from SI, senior writer Andy Staples gives insight into what some recruits are/were thinking heading into signing day -- given the scandal that took place and the coaching decisions that were going on throughout the last few weeks.
Many programs wanted to come in and take away the recruits already committed to Penn State.
As the father and godfather to two of the recruits who had originally committed to Penn State, Brent Williams saw this come full circle. Staples writes, “Brent Williams, the father of Camren Williams and godfather of Armani Reeves, said some schools reached out respectfully, through the boys' high school coach, to see if they might be interested in reopening their recruitment. That group includes Ohio State and Michigan. Others, Brent Williams said, weren't so respectful. ‘I don't include sending an inbox to a kid saying, don't go to Penn State. It's going to be a mess,' said the elder Williams, who declined to name the schools.”
