Before they push the pedal to the metal, the top sprint car drivers in the country will play some kickball to fight children's cancer.

Williams Grove Speedway is hosting a "Kick-it for Cancer" kickball tournament on Friday (September 28) at 12:30 p.m. at Upper Allen Township Park (Fisher Park), 1978 Fisher Road, Mechanicsburg.

The Kick-It charity raises money for juvenile cancer research. The Grove's original goal was to raise $4000. Pledges have now reached nearly $8000.

I've been told 12 teams have signed up and at least two dozen drivers are participating, including Cody Darrah and Paul McMahan.

Gun control has become an overwhelming focus of many in the U.S.  Pro-gun supporters say guns aren't the problem, people are; while anti-gun proponents say eliminating guns will eliminate most crime and violence.
