Former Teacher, Coach Charged In Sexual Assault Case

Emily Rajis, a former faculty member and coach at Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has been charged with seven criminal counts, including institutional sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor. The charges follow an investigation into allegations of inappropriate contact with three students at the school.

Rajis, 27, was the head coach of the girls' wrestling team and also worked as a learning support aide at the school. The investigation began on March 29 after police in Lower Paxton Township were notified of rumors that Rajis was having sexual contact with two underage students, aged 16 and 17. During a recorded interview with investigators on April 26, Rajis admitted to having sexual intercourse with two students at her homes between December 1, 2023, and April 1, 2024. She also claimed to have had sex with a third student, whose age was not disclosed. However, the third student denied any sexual contact with Rajis.

The communication between Rajis and the students reportedly occurred on the high school's campus during school hours. Rajis was placed on administrative leave when the allegations first arose and has since resigned from her position with the Central Dauphin School District.

Rajis' bail was set at $50,000, and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 6. She faces three counts of institutional sexual assault, two counts of unlawful contact with minors, and two counts of corruption of minors.
