GETTYSBURG -- At this tournament, it's 'base ball' and not 'baseball.'
Fourteen vintage base ball clubs from around the country are in Gettysburg this weekend for the 3rd Annual Gettysburg 19th Century Base Ball Festival.
Games are played just like it was still 1864. They're not scripted, either; each outcome depends on the skills and abilities of each club.
A team from Saginaw, Mich., won last year's championship over the host team, Elkton from Adams County. Organizers claim more than 2000 fans attended the event, which is free.
Its not uncommon to see some 'special guests' watching the action, as well. President Lincoln, General Grant, General Lee and a large group of Gettysburg civilians/actors show spectators what life was like in the area in 1864.
