HARRISBURG -- Is Phil Davis still a title contender in UFC?

That's as vague as deciding the differences between shades of blue, according to Davis.

Davis, a graduate of Harrisburg High School and former national wrestling champion at Penn State, had rolled to a perfect 9-0 pro record in mixed martial arts, including a 5-0 mark in UFC.

Then came his only professional loss in January to former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans.

His most recent bout was a no contest; he accidentally poked Wagner Prado in the eye.

Davis will fight Prado again on October 13 at UFC 153.

"That's a great question, 'Am I a top contender?'" said Davis, 28, during a Skype interview on Thursday with CBS 21 News Sports Director Jason Bristol. "It's kind of one of those things; if you say I am, than I am. If you say I'm not, than I'm not.

"I'm just going to beat this guy and dudes will say, "that (Davis) guy should be the next in line.'"

Prado, 24, is 8-0-1 with seven knockouts.

UFC 153: Silva vs. Bonnar is a pay-per-view event at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.
