There's great news to report on Ben Witter's battle with cancer -- and his daughter's fight, as well.
Ben's cyberknife treatments on his brain and jaw have been working very well; and he's in the final stages of "I almost can't begin to thank everyone enough for the support, prayers, and concern that we've gotten," writes Ben in an email.
As for Gabbie, Ben's daughter who was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma last year, the news is even better. Her treatments are finished and there is no evidence of any cancer left in her body. "She's back at school," writes Ben. "Her hair is coming back in nicely. She's back to being a completely normal, crazy, teenage girl and we love it."
Here's more of Ben's email (which I have been given permission to share with our viewers) which describes his difficult -- but inspiring -- fight with cancer:
WOW! Where to even begin...
So many of you out there have been so supportive and genuinely interested in the battle that my family and I have been in over the past 19 months, I almost can't begin to thank everyone enough for the support, prayers, and concern that we've gotten.
Personally, I'm feeling great! The Cyber Knife treatments to the brain and jaw seem to have done their job and I'm in the final steps on the start of the next phase of treatments to my chest and abdomen which will begin sometime in the next week or two depending on the results of a recent scan.
I'm definitely not out of the woods yet, but compared with the news and outlook from last fall, I'm not only feeling better, but looking to the future with a renewed sense of optimism.
As of today (Monday, February 6th) I'm officially returning to work and the operation of the Fairview Indoor Golf Center. I'd like to personally thank Blaine Peffley for temporarily running it for the past 3 1/2 months which gave me time to go through the Cyber Knife Treatments and deal with my personal issues.
Ben continues to update his blog, which includes pictures, detailing everything he's been experiencing in his most recent fight with cancer.
