HARRISBURG -- Harrisburg advanced a runner past second base just once Monday night as Justin Fitzgerald pitched 8.1 scoreless innings in Richmond's 2-0 win over the Senators at Metro Bank Park.
Richmond scored in the second and fifth innings, respectively; both times after errors allowed the runner that scored to advance an extra base. Gary Brown, San Francisco's first round pick in the 2010 draft, did a face-plant scoring the Flying Squirrels' second run, but remained in the game.
Harrisburg's Chris McConnell doubled in the eighth, advanced to third, but was left stranded.
Fitzgerald allowed four hits and struck out eight. He walked two.
Brett Bochy came on and struck out Tim Pahuta and Chris Rahl to end the ballgame.
