CHAMBERSBURG -- Mike Baldwin returned a 38-yard interception for the winning score in Central Penn's 24-17 win over the Chambersburg Cardinals on Saturday at Trojan Stadium.
Baldwin's interception of Cardinals quarterback Dante Warren broke a 17-all tie with 12:20 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Central Penn held Chambersburg to -3 yards passing in the Cardinals' season opener. Chambersburg (0-1, 0-1) is the defending Gridiron Developmental Football League champion.
Central Penn (4-0, 3-0) jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, thanks to two touchdown passes from Mark Jarman. Jarman connected on a 20-yard toss to Darren Echols and then completed 55-yard scoring strike to Troy Ham.
A crowd of 1800-2500 people watched the game, which was one of the most eagerly anticipated minor league football games in years. Chambersburg beat Central Penn 13-9 the last time these two teams met, on October 30, 2010.
