Tempers flared during Sunday night's explosive season finale of TLC's hit new reality show ‘Breaking Amish’ and CBS 21 was right in the middle of it.
Over the past couple of months, we have reported extensively on TLC’s hit new reality show ‘Breaking Amish’. Much of that reporting has focused on exclusive details about the abusive past of one of the cast members, Jeremiah Raber.
Because of Raber’s contract with TLC, he wasn't allowed to tell his side. So he took the opportunity last night during the reunion episode to respond directly to our repors.
“Were you ever abusive?” questioned TLC’s Moderator. “No,” replied Jeremiah Raber.
Jeremiah Raber looked uncomfortable during the season one finale of Breaking Amish. Like many reality shows, TLC brought back the cast members for a reunion to talk about the season. Sunday night, Jeremiah and CBS 21 were the centers of attention.
“In a phone interview, Naomi Stutzman, Jeremiah’s ex-wife told a Central Pennsylvania television station that her former husband has not only lived outside the Amish lifestyle since he was 18, but that he had been physically abusive and owed child support,” stated the television show.
In that phone interview Stutzman told CBS 21, “I've been in the hospital multiple times from this man. He was physically abusive. I had to go to the battered women’s shelter.”
Raber responded to that quote. “She’s saying she went to these women shelter things,” Raber explained.
“Did she go?” questioned the moderator.
“Absolutely, because I got sick and tired of it and I decided to be an *** and say you’re getting out of the house,” replied Raber.
“You seem angry. Why are you angry?” the moderator addressed.
“I am, because so many people believe what she said instead of doing their frickin’ homework and doing all these police reports,” Raber continued.
Raber admitted to spending three days in jail, but also said the charges against him were dropped. As far as Stutzman telling CBS 21 that Jeremiah owes her $20,000 in child support for their three children, this is what he said.
“I regret that I didn’t pay child support in the past,” Raber told the host. “Am I paying it now, absolutely?”
As far as the future of Breaking Amish, sources have told me that TLC has approached the cast members to do a second season. This one would not be filmed in New York. No word on if a deal has been reached.
