CBS 21 News has new video of NASCAR star Kasey Kahne's flip Friday during a World of Outlaws race at Williams Grove, courtesy of www.SportsPlusVideo.com and Lynn Schaeffer Productions.
Kahne survived a wild ride during the first night of the Summer Nationals Friday at Williams Grove Speedway. The Enumclaw, Washington, driver was running the high side when Craig Dollansky dove below him and began to slide up the racing surface. The two then briefly hit each other.
"I saw Craig start to drift up towards me," said Kahne, who was running near the front of the pack during the second heat race, according to Tony Veneziano of WoO. "He did something similar to me at Limaland (Motorsports Park) and I was able to get on the brakes. It still put me up into the wall and messed with us a bit. There wasn't anything I was able to do this time around though. I got wrecked and that happens sometimes in racing. I'm alright but I haven't flipped in a race car like that in awhile."
Kahne did manage to walk away from the incident that sent his car over the wall in turn four. However, his #49 Ollie's Bargain Outlets machine couldn't be fixed and scrapped.
Greg Hodnett later won round one of the World of Outlaws Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway Friday night for the Pennsylvania Posse.
Hodnett, of Thomasville, followed King of the Outlaws Steve Kinser for the first four circuits of the 25-lap main before taking over with a low side move and then surviving numerous restarts to pick up his sixth win in the last 12 outlaws events held at the track.
His 46th career win at the oval was worth $8,000.
Jason Meyers of Clovis, California, then took the final round of the Williams Grove Speedway Summer Nationals Saturday night for the World of Outlaws circuit; along with the $20,000 paycheck that accompanied it.
It was the first ever win at Williams Grove for the defending WoO champion.
Meyers started on the pole of the 30-lap main and led every lap on his way to the payday.
WoO Rookie of the Year contender and former PA Posse member Cody Darrah of Red Lion lined up alongside Meyers for the start of the race and was trailing in second when the red flag appeared with two laps down for a flip by Paul McMahan on the frontstretch.
