BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - Junior linebacker Khairi Fortt has decided to become the latest Penn State player to transfer to a Pac-12 school.

Fortt signed a scholarship agreement with California on Wednesday. He has 50 tackles in the last two seasons and ended Penn State's spring practice as the co-starter at middle linebacker on the depth chart.

In light of the sanctions from the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, the NCAA is allowing Nittany Lions players to seek new schools and play immediately, so long as they leave by the start of Penn State training camp next Monday. Star tailback Silas Redd bolted Happy Valley for Southern California on Tuesday.

Cal coach Jeff Tedford said in a statement that the Golden Bears "are excited to welcome" Fortt "to the Cal family."
