HARRISBURG -- People are still cashing in on the Penn State child sex scandal.
Sports memorabilia items signed by former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky continue to be hot sellers on eBay, the world’s leading internet auction website.
Autographed copies of Sandusky’s 2000 autobiography, Touched, have reached as high as $510.
Most books signed by Sandusky, however, are fetching around $130. One sold on November 21 for $157 after receiving a total of 37 bids.
The book that sold for $510 was a limited-edition, leather-bound version signed by Sandusky, as well as six former Penn State All-Americans: Matt Millen, Greg Buttle, Lance Mehl, Jack Ham, Ed O'Neil and Kyle Brady, according to the auction listing. The book was numbered 221 out of 250 copies.
In the auction listing, the seller added the following message, “Burn in Hell Jerry.”
A grand jury report released earlier this month alleges Sandusky had sexual contact with eight boys he met through The Second Mile, the charity he founded. Much of the alleged sexual contact happened on Penn State's campus.
Two school administrators have been charged with lying to the grand jury.
Sandusky has said he is innocent.
Another top-selling item on eBay is a limited-edition lithograph produced in 2000 and signed by both Sandusky and the artist. It depicts Sandusky with a group of children and has sold for as much as $154.
A hand-written and signed letter by Sandusky on Penn State stationary received 49 bids and sold for $285. The seller indicated in auction listing he would donate some of the proceeds of the sale to a children’s charity.
