Carnival Cruise Line's Costa Concordia struck a reef off the coast of Italy, capsizing.  Many of the passengers said there was pandemonium on the ship as everyone attempted to board lifeboats.  Many jumped into the water or were rescued from the sinking ship by other boats coming to the rescue.  16 are dead and many are still missing after the accident.
