UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State cornerback Chaz Powell has been selected the Big Ten's Co-Special Teams Player of the Week after returning the opening kickoff Saturday for a touchdown to help spark Penn State to a 41-7 win over Indiana State.

A senior, Powell shares his first career conference honor with Nebraska kicker Brett Maher.

Powell’s 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the game was the second of his career. He returned a kickoff 100 yards last year against Youngstown State on the opening kickoff of the second half—the last time that a kick had been returned for a touchdown by Penn State prior to last Saturday.

A former Susquehannock High School standout, Powell made one solo tackle and helped the Nittany Lions force three turnovers and hold the Sycamores to eight first downs and 170 total yards.
