Reporter Chris Fischer

Chris Fischer

Chris Fischer joined WHP CBS21 in February of 2010 as the Weekend Sports Anchor and Reporter. Before moving to Central PA, he worked in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the same capacity.

Since coming to CBS21, Chris has had the opportunity to cover the 2010 NFL draft, the Hershey Bears run to consecutive Calder Cup titles and Penn State football. A die hard Phillies fan, his most enjoyable experience to date is covering the Phillies at Spring Training. Plus he considers covering the Eagles and Ravens at their training camp as a huge perk of the job.

Before making the move back over the Mason Dixon line, Chris had the opportunity to cover plenty of the PGA Tour and college athletics. Being at Augusta National for The Masters still marks his favorite location he’s covered an event at.

Prior to being a Weekend Anchor, he was the Sports Director at KNBN in Rapid City, South Dakota. Giving him the chance to learn how to ride a bull, learn how to snow board and cover 8 man football. Which were all unique experiences for a guy from Clearwater, Florida.

Before stepping in front of the camera, Chris worked at WFTV in Orlando, Florida as a Sports Producer while still in college at UCF.

Growing up a quarter of a mile from the Phillies spring training complex made him a ball park rat and eventually a bat boy for the team. PA sports have been ingrained him since an early age with his father originally from the Keystone State. So he considers the ability to work and live in the heart of the Pennsylvania as a blessing.

The University of Notre Dame and dozens of other Catholic institutions sued President Barack Obama's administration on Monday to block a government regulation that requires employers to provide health insurance coverage for contraceptives to employees. The regulation, which is part of the president's healthcare reform law, has sparked a nasty fight between the administration and the Roman Catholic Church, which opposes artificial contraception.
