HARRISBURG -- The Central Dauphin High School football team has cracked the top 25 in two different national polls.

The Rams, the defending state champions, were ranked 23rd by USA Today. Sports Illustrated has Central Dauphin ranked 21st, in the "Other Notables" section of its poll.

Central Dauphin defeated North Penn High School 14-7 last December for its first-ever PIAA-AAAA state title. The Rams open the season this Friday at Manheim Township High School in Lancaster County.

The polls are based on the opinions of writers and employees from both media outlets.
