HARRISBURG -- Bishop McDevitt senior Noah Spence has been named a first-team High School All-America by
Sports Illustrated and SI.com.
Spence made the squad at defensive end and was selected by editors and writers of SI. The "Five-star pass-rusher notched 108 tackles, 12.5 sacks and three blocked punts and a safety," the magazine notes.
One of the most sought-after prospects in the nation, Spence has gave a verbal commitment to Ohio State University on Sunday, on his way back from visiting the school in Columbus, Ohio.
Spence was also chosen as the 2011-12 Gatorade Pennsylvania Football Player of the Year on December 1.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound senior defensive end led the Crusaders to a runner-up finish in the PIAA-AAA Football Championships. Archbishop Wood, which beat McDevitt 52-0 in the state final, had four players who earned honorable mention from SI.
