SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP -- It's been awhile, but Bishop McDevitt finally has another dynamic duo in the backfield.
Both Rashad Lawson and Andre Robinson have run for more than a 1000 yards this season -- the first time McDevitt has had two running backs pass that magic number in a season since 1985.
The Crusaders (14-0) face Erie Cathedral Prep (13-0) on Friday night in the PIAA-AAA semifinals at Clearfield High School.
"Having two, 1000-yard rushers just means a lot for the (offensive) line, as well," said Lawson, a junior, who has 1,003 yards this season.
"It's just the line doing a great job," added Robinson, a sophomore. He has gained 1,002 yards.
Tailback Jimmy Bryant rushed for 1,375 yards and scored 19 touchdowns in 1985, while fullback Sean Barowski also cracked the 1,000 yard milestone, according to the official home page of McDevitt football.
Robinson and Lawson now have a place in the school record book; which is certainly impressive considering McDevitt has also produced Pro Bowlers Ricky Watters and LeSean McCoy, as well.
"We'll need them both Friday," said coach Jeff Weachter of the school's newest dynamic duo.
"If we can't run the ball, Erie Cathedral Prep is just going to bring the house (and blitz us)."
