education on the risk factors associated with
cardiovascular disease and stroke for all ages.
“The American Heart Association / American
Stroke Association focuses on all age ranges to
fight the greatest health risk in the United
States,” stated Lane. “There has been countless

focusing on children’s health. From identifying
problems in child development to establishing
healthier school nutrition plans, this
organization is making a difference.”

“Improving the health of our communities is a
core value of our company,” said Dan Lebish,
President and chief executive officer of United
Concordia Companies, Inc., presenting sponsor of
the 2009 Heart Ball. “There is an increasing
body of research that suggests linkages between
poor oral health and certain systemic
conditions, including heart disease and stroke.
As a dental insurer committed to oral and
overall health, United Concordia fully supports
the Heart Ball and the work of the American
Heart Association/American Stroke Association.”
