   The 2009 Capital Region Heart Ball will take place on February 28 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey.
The 2009 Heart Ball, “Listen to your heart…dance,” will include a live auction, dinner and dancing.

  • The live auction items include:
    Fourteen seats in a private suite at a Baltimore Orioles’ game donated by United Concordia
     
  • Day trip aboard the private boat of Robert Grubic, President of
  • Herbert, Rowland & Grubic and lunch for six with a tour from Annapolis to St. Michaels
     
  • Five day vacation in Cabo San Lucas donated by Morton Spector
     
  • Private tour of the XPN studio and lunch for four at the acclaimed World Café complete with an IPOD featuring the music selections of on-air personalities, such as David Dye
     
  • Karaoke cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres and ten over-night deluxe guest rooms donated by The Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel.
     

   The Capital Region Heart Ball, chaired by Greg Lane of Aegis Group, celebrates the efforts of those involved with the local Heart Societies to raise funds, build passion and save lives. Event proceeds will support research and community education on the risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease and stroke for all ages.
   “The American Heart Association / American Stroke Association focuses on all age ranges to fight the greatest health risk in the United States,” stated Lane. “There has been countless advancements in research and education programs focusing on children’s health. From identifying problems in child development to establishing healthier school nutrition plans, this organization is making a difference.”
 

   A Special Appeal for “Our Children’s Health” will take place the night of the event. Lloyd Lamm, Retail President, First National Bank, chairs the special appeal.    More than 300 supporters are expected to attend this year’s Heart Ball including business leaders, professionals, philanthropists and other community members. Attendees will be helping to reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and stroke within central Pennsylvania communities.  “On average in the United States, there is a stroke every 40 seconds. Stroke is the third leading cause of death and claims 150,000 American lives each year. It is also the leading cause of adult disability,” stated Kevin Cockroft, M.D., M.Sc., Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and Radiology and Co-Director of the Penn State Stroke Center, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
