HARRISBURG -- Junior Alyssa Thomas of the No. 10 Maryland women's basketball team has been named the ACC Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The reigning ACC Player of the Year averaged 22 points and 13 rebounds in the Terps' two conference wins this past week. Thomas scored a season-high 26 points Sunday at Virginia Tech and pulled down a career-high 28 rebounds to go with six assists and three blocks.
In Thursday's game vs. No. 24 Miami, she scored a team-high 18 points with added eight rebounds and five assists in the 84-62 win over the Hurricanes.
Thomas is a graduate of Central Dauphin High School.
She is currently leading the ACC in rebounding with 10.6 per game and is second in scoring (16.1 points per game), but only to teammate Tianna Hawkins (18.6 points per game).
This is Thomas' 13th weekly honor from the conference in her career, as she was named ACC Rookie of the Week a record-seven times in the 2010-11 season and went on to be named ACC Rookie of the Year.
