HARRISBURG – Billy Casper Golf is coming to Harrisburg to manage Dauphin Highlands Golf Course.

Bill Casper Golf (BCG), of Vienna, Virginia, claims to be the largest owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts in the country. It was selected by the Dauphin County General Authority to manage the facility.

Terms of the agreement were not released by BCG.

“Billy Casper Golf has a sterling reputation for taking municipally-owned golf courses to the next level,” says Barbara A. Zemlock, Chair of the Dauphin County General Authority in a statement. “Its focus on creating memorable guest experiences as well as marketing acumen and overall management philosophy is laudable.”

The course had been for sale for around $16 million.

BCG says it will provide turnkey management of Dauphin Highlands’ operations; including golf course and property maintenance; sales, marketing and public relations; staffing and training; merchandising; restaurant and banquet activities; special events; golf instruction; and financial management.

The course opened in 1995.

“With an excellent course layout, Dauphin Highlands is poised for significant growth,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG in a statement. “Golfers and the Dauphin County General Authority will realize the Billy Casper Golf difference in the short and long term.”

BCG says it will also enact its proprietary “BCGreen” initiative at Dauphin Highlands to conserve, protect and enhance the environment. The course will be enrolled in the Audubon International “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” program; which should increase efficiency in maintenance, energy, water, pesticides, fertilizer, equipment wear and labor.

Dauphin Highlands features an Ault, Clark and Associates-designed 18-hole, 7,121-yard, par-72 public course, which BCG says is comparable in quality to many country clubs. It has received a four-star (of five) rating from Golf Digest and a “Reader’s Choice Award” from Harrisburg Magazine.
