HARRISBURG -- Marques Colston of the New Orleans Saints is the Most Valuable Player of a flag football team.
Colston helped pay for the Harrisburg Eagles girls flag football team and their parents to attend the NFL FLAG powered by USA Football National Championships at Lafreniere Park in Metairie, La., according to the Eagles team.
Harrisburg is one of eight squads in the Girls' 12-14-year-old division that will compete in the annual football event held near the site of the Super Bowl.
"Marques Colston helped donate to get the charter bus, which was a huge fundraiser for us," said Ben Bragg, the father of Two Harrisburg Eagles players. "So everyone has really come together to help support the girls and get them down there to experience this."
Colston attended Susquehanna Township High School.
All flag football coaches and players will receive tickets provided by NFL FLAG to attend the Super Bowl XLVII NFL Experience. Practice sessions are scheduled for Monday before the teams take the field to determine who will be crowned the national champions. Pool play begins Tuesday morning with playoffs and championship games following in the afternoon.
The team leaves Sunday from Harrisburg.
"I'm very excited," said quarterback Dominique Watson. "We've been through this a million times and its finally our time to shine.
"This is my last year so I'm going to go all out. I'm really hyped to meet a lot of NFL players; because I love football."
The Harrisburg Eagles are coached by Clarence Watson.
Players on the team include: Diamond Bragg, Passion Bragg, Jaa Brown, Ja'Lynn Burton, Mercedes Cheatham, Jone McNeil, Janelle Robinson, Desiree Wahosky, Watson, and Jazmin Wright.
Harrisburg won its regional tournament hosted by the New York Jets. The national tournament also includes a 9-11-year-old coed division and a 12-14 boys division.
