HERSHEY -- This is one road trip in which the Penn State women's basketball team knew it would come back winners.

Head coach Coquese Washington and the No. 9 Nittany Lions (10-2) toured a research lab at Penn State Hershey's Cancer Institute on Wednesday afternoon and saw how the money they've helped raise directly supports breast cancer research.

"To be able to come down here and find out what our efforts are doing...and how it impacts the community and how it impacts society; it kind of puts things in perspective," said Washington.

The Lady Lions donate a portion of the proceeds from their WBCA Pink Zone game each year to breast cancer research.

The team also visited an infusion therapy clinic where they met with patients, physicians, and nurses.

"Every year we have our Pink Zone game and we're able to raise a lot of money," said Maggie Lucas, Penn State's leading scorer at 20.9 ppg.

"It's nice to come down here and see that its going to great work."
