CHICAGO (AP) - Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti says he knows of only two or three players who are planning to leave the Nittany Lions following the NCAA sanctions that were levied on Monday.
Speaking at Big Ten media day, the senior said Friday that the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal isn't the players' fault. And even though they are also being punished, he's not going to sit around and take it when people try to tear down the program he represents.
Mauti did not say specifically who he thought would leave. Asked about star tailback Silas Redd, Mauti says the two have spoken and he hopes Redd will make the right decision.
