MECHANICSBURG -- It was a big night for the Mechanicsburg wrestling program.
Rustin Barrick won the 113th match of his career and the Wildcats advanced to the semifinals of the District 3 team wrestling championships Tuesday with wins over Manheim Central and Spring Grove, respectively.
Mechanicsburg beat Manheim Central 47-22 in the first round and later defeated Spring Grove 49-18 in the quarterfinals. Spring Grove topped ELCO 57-18 in its first round match-up.
Barrick's 113 wins are the most in school history. Barrick wrestles at 152 lbs.
Mechanicsburg's Aaron Davis (145) gave the Wildcats a 4-0 cushion with a major decision victory. At 160 lbs., Mitchell Ramsey's first period pin increased the Wildcats' lead to 14-0.
Joey Krulock also won by pin at 170.
