WEST CHESTER. - Defending PSAC champion Kutztown is picked as the PSAC East division's preseason favorite for the first time ever in a poll of conference coaches, the PSAC announced Monday.
The coaches' poll placed Millersville seventh in the division.
Millersville posted a 3-8 overall record and a 2-5 PSAC East mark in 2011, finishing sixth in the division ahead of Cheyney and East Stroudsburg.
Millersville boasts 17 returning starters and the most veteran roster of Greg Colby's five seasons.
The Marauders open the season at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. against West Virginia Wesleyan of the WVIAC, which went 9-2 last season.
Kutztown is the preseason favorite for the first time in history.
The Golden Bears went 11-2 with a 6-1 division record in 2011 and return six All-PSAC East players, including PSAC East Player of the Year Kevin Morton.
California (PA) and IUP have been chosen as co-favorites to win the PSAC West.
