ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) - Bill O'Brien has quickly put to rest any notion that he plans to stick around as long as the last Penn State football coach.

Don't expect his tenure in Happy Valley to last 46 years.

That's how long the late Joe Paterno coached the Nittany Lions before his school trustees ousted him last November in the aftermath of child sexual abuse charges against a retired assistant coach.

O'Brien was hired in January. He started the last week of a three-week, 18-stop bus tour of Penn State alumni strongholds Monday in Altoona, part of an ambitious effort to introduce himself to the team's massive fan base.

O'Brien is promising to honor the past and Paterno's numerous accomplishments while giving his vision for the new era of Penn State football.
