PALMYRA -- Home, sweet home?
Not exactly. But for the Central Penn Piranha playing a national title game in Chambersburg is the next best thing.
"That's great," said quarterback Mark Jarmon, who's thrown for 1334 yards and 17 touchdowns. "A lot of our fans can make the game. Usually the (playoff) games are a little too far, but since it's this close, we should have a lot of fan support."
Central Penn (15-0) faces the South Buffalo (N.Y.) Celtics (12-1) on Saturday at Trojan Stadium for the Gridiron Developmental Football League championship. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Trojan Stadium is also home to the Chambersburg Cardinals, Central Penn's fiercest rival. The Piranha beat Chambersburg 28-6 on September 8 in the GDFL playoffs.
Playing in Chambersburg is no problem for defensive back Mike Baldwin. He enjoyed two of his best games of the season there, including an interception return for a score on June 16.
"Last couple of times we've played on (Chambersburg's) field, I've made some big plays," said Baldwin, who attended Kutztown. "Hopefully I can continue with that tradition."
