Piranha wins GDFL national title with 49-14 over South Buffalo

CHAMBERSBURG -- Quarterback Mark Jarmon threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns in the Central Penn Piranha's 49-14 win over South Buffalo (N.Y.) in the Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL) national championship game Saturday night at Trojan Stadium.

Jarmon completed five of ten passes and was named the championship game MVP. Central Penn jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

This is the Piranha's third national championship in franchise history.

Eddie Scipio returned an interception 54 yards for a touchdown for the Piranha, which finished the season with perfect 16-0 record. Wide receiver Darren Echols caught two passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns.

Zak Kedron carried 16 times for 159 yards and scored twice for South Buffalo (12-2).

Piranha head coach Ron Kerr was named the GDFL's national coach of the year. The Chambersburg Cardinals were named the league's organization of the year.
