The Harrisburg Senators will have another former major league catcher as its field manager.
According to Bill Ladson of mlb.com, Randy Knorr will skipper the Senators in 2010, replacing John Stearns. In a email to CBS 21 News Sports Director Jason Bristol, a member of the Nationals media relations staff could not confirm Knorr's appointment.
Knorr spent last season as the Washington Nationals' bullpen coach. He has managed in the Nationals system before; in fact, his Potomac club in 2008 finished 79-61 and became the first full-season Nationals affiliate to win its league championship since baseball returned to D.C. in 2005.
He owns 241-241 (.500) managerial record in the Nats' system.
Knorr was originally signed by the Toronto Blue Jays and made it to the major leagues in 1991. He also appeared in big league games with the Astros, Marlins, Rangers, and Expos.
