The Shippensburg University football team has qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division II Football Championships as the No. 4 seed from Super Region 1 and will host No. 5 seed Bloomsburg at noon Saturday from SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium.
Shippensburg’s NCAA tournament berth is its third in the last nine years and its fifth in school history.
Three weeks ago, Shippensburg hosted Bloomsburg in an epic battle that went the way of the Red Raiders, 49-42. The two teams combined for 1,163 yards of total offense and nine turnovers in a clash that came down to the final seconds, with junior quarterback Zach Zulli (Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) finding senior Bryan Barley (Berwyn/Conestoga) in the end zone with 4.8 seconds left for the game-winning touchdown.
