SEATTLE (AP) - The Minnesota Twins have claimed outfielder Erik Komatsu off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals.

The move was made Friday as the struggling Twins designated outfielder Clete Thomas for assignment. After being claimed three weeks ago off waivers from the Detroit Tigers, Thomas homered in his first game with the Twins but struck out 16 times in 28 at-bats.

The 24-year-old Komatsu had four hits in 19 at-bats and two walks in 15 games for the Cardinals before being let go. The eighth-round draft pick by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008 was traded to the Washington Nationals in 2011. The Cardinals took him from the Nationals in the Rule 5 major league draft last winter.

The Twins also announced third baseman Sean Burroughs accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A Rochester.
