HARRISBURG -- Did the coaches at Stanford envision a team leader on both offense and defense when Coy Wire signed his letter-of-intent on June 16, 1994?

Probably not, but Wire still excelled on both sides of the ball for the Cardinal.

Wire, who turned 34 on November 7, 2012, led the team in rushing in 1998 and tackles in 2000 after being moved from running back to safety to inside linebacker.

A CBS 21 News camera was rolling as Wire signed his letter-of-intent at Cedar Cliff High School in 1994, alongside his father Rick and brother Casey.

After a nine-career in the National Football League playing for the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons, Wire now works as a television analyst for the Pac-12 Network; he is also a businessman and motivational speaker, as well.
