YORK -- The York Capitals have signed defensive back Marcus Sargeant and kicker J.R. Cipra.
Sargeant last played for the Central Penn Piranha, the champions of the Gridiron Developmental Football League. He intercepted two passes and recorded 15 tackles.
He has indoor experience with the Reading Express, Harrisburg Stampede, and the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. He attended Lackawanna College.
Cipra is regarded as one of the top kickers in all of indoor football. He was a named an All-Pro in the American Indoor Football Association in 2009 after leading the league with 172 points, including 34 field goals and 70 PATs. A product of Ohio Northern University, Cipra has also played for the Harrisburg Stampede, Peoria Pirates, Erie Freeze, Erie RiverRats and Canton Legends.
York plays its first-ever game of American Indoor Football (AIF) on April 6 at the York City Ice Arena against the Washington Eagles.
