Cost estimates

Before calling a moving company for a cost estimate, you must first get an estimate of the weight or amount of items you will be moving. You can do this by preparing a list of the number of rooms in the house, and major pieces of furniture in each. From this, moving companies will know approximately the weight of each room and the typical possessions in it. Or, if you already know the number of boxes you will have, you can calculate the weight yourself by multiplying each cubic foot of weight of goods by forty pounds. Now you are ready to call several moving companies and ask for estimates based on your figures. Ask them to send any free literature they have available that details their services and packages.
