The dress of a bride or groom's mother will usually depend on the time of day during which the wedding is scheduled. Traditionally, mothers often wear colors that complement the bridesmaids and each other. However, their dresses should be different from those of the bridesmaids. Many mothers choose to wear dresses that are approximately the same length. Cocktail dresses or gowns are appropriate for evening weddings, and suits or dresses are appropriate for less formal daytime events. Ultimately, the choice is up to the individual. For more information on appropriate attire, consult a bridal salon or consultant.
