CBS 21's Stylish Statement 2009 is in full swing!

On Monday, we met up with our student actors from our four Lebanon County Partner Schools:

-- Lebanon High School
-- ELCO High School
-- Lebanon Catholic
-- Palmyra High School

The students filmed a scene for our Stylish Statement Movie, which is shown along with the specially-produced CBS 21 Newscast.

In this scene, the students play a group of teens hanging out at a house before driving to prom.  A few of the teens are drinking, while others are not. Throughout the scene, the teens are faced with several peer pressure scenarios, which could have dangerous consequences on their big night.

"We kind of played out a scenario where there's a good influence," says Megan Keller, a Senior at Palmyra High School.

Keller plays the part of a girl who's date is being pressured into drinking, and does her best to change his mind. "And that (peer pressure) happens a lot on Prom night. Someone has to put their foot down, and make the right decisions," adds Keller.

Playing the part of Keller's date is ELCO student Joel Logan. Logan hopes his classmates will take the Stylish Statement message to heart.

"Its just not a very good idea to be drinking and driving," Logan tells CBS 21 News. "People get hurt, and people die. We've just got to look out for each other.

"I can't wait to see what my friends are going to think," adds Lebanon High School's Josselinne Gonzalez, a sophomore. "To see, wow! They're really putting out a message!"

Unlike the pushy, beer drinking teen she portrays in the Stylish Statement movie scene, Gonzalez hopes her real-life positive anti-alcohol influnce will keep her friends safe on Prom night.

"You've got to make the tough decisions," says Gonzalez. "And you're friends will look up to you for that!"

What is CBS 21's Stylish Statement 2009?

It's part Newscast, part Movie, and part Fashion Show....!
Each year, CBS 21 News teams up with high schools across Central Pennsylvania to produce this special program aimed at preventing alcohol-related incidents during Prom season.

Students from each of our partner schools fill important roles, as Prom Reporters, in our specially-produced CBS 21 Newscast.

Along side CBS 21 News Anchors Mike Parker, Tanya Foster, Sherry Christian, Jason Bristol, Steve Knight, and Chief Meteorologist Tom Russell... The students tell stories of real alcohol-related tragedies from across Central PA, and offer helpful advice to their peers.

Students also fill roles in our Stylish Statement Movie, acting out realistic peer pressure scenarios.

In the end, the newscast and movie blend into one, as the audience learns the often frightening consequences of our teens' decisions.

The whole presentation is coupled with a real, Prom fashion show. Dozens of student models walk the runway, wearing the latest Prom gown and tuxedo fashions for 2009!

It's a great way to see what styles area formal shops are offering, while learning an important lesson in prom night survival!

This year, our CBS 21 Stylish Statement Partner Schools include:

-- Upper Dauphin Area High School
-- Lebanon High School
-- Williams Valley High School
-- Palmyra Area High School
-- Halifax Area High School
-- Lebanon Catholic High School
-- ELCO High School
