People living in Wyomissing, Berks County are singing the praises of former native Taylor Swift, a big winner in the County Music Awards that aired on CBS21 Wednesday night.
Swift lived in Berks County until the age of 14 when her parents moved the entire family to Nashville to pursue her career. That move payed-off four fold last night at the Country Music Awards where she took four top honors -- including Entertainer of the Year.
Local disc jockey Jerry Murphey is proud to say his station -- WIOV-- was the first in the country to play her first top single -- "Tim McGraw".
"And she was sitting right behind me when I played it," he told CBS21 News.
Murphey says Taylor's father once worked in sales at the station and would bring her to the station to help promote her career. Murphey says Taylor is still the down-to-earth girl people from Wyomissing remember.
