A major cable company is opening up another call center here in Central PA. Comcast plans to add hundreds of jobs to a new facility. The company says it plans to hire 425 people this summer, once the call center in Susquehanna Township opens. Representatives say they're looking for staff who have good experience in customer service.
Right now, the call room at 2801 Valley Road, is a big, empty room. Jim Samaha, with Comcast's Keystone Region says the company is excited to bring new jobs here. "We're really anxious to get out here and have folks apply for positions here." But he says before those jobs can happen, the building needs completed. "Well, there's a lot of work left to do. We have to build out the site and that it's ready to house a call operation center."
One of the Nations largest cable providers plans to use this space to open a customer care call center. In the new building, calls from fourteen states across the Northeast will come in.
"We have a large customer base here, so it's always nice to launch operations in areas where you serve customers too. I think it's a great market." Samaha said.
Governor Corbett released a statement saying, "by choosing to expand in Dauphin County, Comcast is enhancing what is already a significant contribution to Pennsylvania's economy. Comcast is committed to Pennsylvania."
"Pennsylvania is the home for Comcast, we have significant operations in the state. We like the workforce were able to recruit and we think we're gonna have a lot of success here." Samaha said.
Comcast already has 5 centers in Pennsylvania including in Lebanon and York, the others are near Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
