10 more people face criminal charges of illegally spending millions of taxpayer dollars in the state's ongoing legislative corruption investigation. And the PA Attorney General says that the ring leader is State Republican Representative and former House Speaker John Perzel.
Taxpayers that spoke with CBS 21 News say, they're angry, that their hard earned money was allegedly going to fund campaign work.
"I don't have any faith in government really. Everything is going downhill right now, fast it seems," said Lynn Ford, Dauphin County Taxpayer.
" (I feel) kind of taken for granted. I mean we elect these officials to do a job for us and obviously they're not doing it," said Vince Murphy, Cumberland County taxpayer.
Reaction to news that former House Speaker John Perzel is among 10 people charged with spending more than 10 million dollars of taxpayer money for campaign work.
" The Grand Jury found that Perzel was aggressive in the acquisition of power. He demanded obedience and punished those who allegedly challenged his power," said Tom Corbett, PA Attorney General.
Perzel would allegedly do thing likes use state staff to work on campaign computer programs to manipulate data for election purposes. And, Corbett says, there is surveillance video that proves Perzel tried to hide evidence; boxes of campaign materials.
"It's a shame, but it does happen I think more than we realize," said Ford.
"Can you really trust the people that are elected?" asked Murphy.
Former Republican Representative Brett Feese and former and current aides are also charged in this investigation. The ten are scheduled to turn themselves in Friday morning.
These latest charges come more than a year after Corbett's office charged a dozen people connected to the House Democratic Caucus with similar offenses.
