Harrisburg schools' recovery officer given more time
Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Ronald J. Tomalis has given Chief Recovery Officer Gene G. Veno an additional 45 days – to Apr. 26 - to complete his blueprint for the financial and academic recovery of the Harrisburg School District. The Public Meeting scheduled for Mar. 12, the day that the plan was originally due, is cancelled as the team continues to work on the recovery plan.
Veno was appointed by the State Education Secretary on Dec. 12 when the Harrisburg School District was determined to be in moderate financial recovery status. He was tasked with creating a recovery plan in 90 days and overseeing the implementation of the plan.
