For many across the midstate, Wednesday’s snowfall did not end up being as exciting as hoped, particular for those who did not see any snow.
It used to be that a nice snow storm not only closed schools, but just about everything else. Once sidewalks were shoveled and driveways cleared of snow, neighbors would get together while the kids would stay outdoors in the snow.
However, there were very few kids playing outside Wednesday. Parks in Chambersburg were empty, as were school grounds.
Neighborhoods were quiet and the campus of Wilson College seemed deserted. Even south of the borough in a more rural area at a park, only a woman was jogging.
There were no snowmen being built, no sledding and not even a good snowball fight could be uncovered.
12-year-old Brandon Dorremil was working instead of playing.
“I get to get off school. It's awesome,” commented Brandon. But as for shoveling, he said “Not so good, I 'd rather be inside asleep."
It was a sloppy, wet job and snow changed to rain, and then what snow there was started to melt. Brandon was just looking to get the job done.
So the time came to ask the big question. When it snows, kids like to go sledding, build a snowman, even get in snowball fights. We asked Brandon if he likes to head out in the snow?
“Sometimes. But it's too cold," Brandon told us.
For other people, the winter storm caused schools to be cancelled, leaving parents wondering what to do with their children.
