Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed for CBS 21 News that the body of a man found in Menallen Township, Adams County Wednesday afternoon was that of Chad Stroup, 26, of Columbia, Lancaster County.
Trooper Thomas Pinkerton said Stroup had driven to the Michaux State Forest, along the Adams, Franklin and Cumberland County lines, early Tuesday morning to scout out future hunting spots and never returned.
A search for Stroup began Tuesday night after family members reported him missing.
Stroup's truck was found parked along Birch Run Road near an area of the forest called Big Flat.
Approximately 100 people took part in the search for Stroup.
At about 3:00 pm Wednesday, two volunteer firefighters found Stroup's body lying in a creek, less than half a mile from where his truck was parked, Pinkerton said.
Pinkerton said there were no obvious signs of foul play or cause of death.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
