The lawyers responsible for filing civil lawsuits against several Springettsbury Township Police Officers for alleged police brutality have added the police chief and York County to the list of defendants being sued.
The attorneys representing the people who say they were beaten by police, held a press conference at their offices in Hampden Township to make the announcement Thursday. As they work on these two separate cases, they say even more complaints are coming in.
Last week, attorneys at Boyle Litigation announced that they filed two separate civil lawsuits against three Springettsbury Township police officers.
In-car police video cameras show violent attacks against a mentally ill handcuffed woman and a mentally ill man.
They happened within 16 months of each other.
In a press conference Thursday, civil rights attorney Devon Jacob says he's now added York County as a defendant in the Debra Williams lawsuit.
York County was added, as well as Springettsbury Township Police Chief Thomas Hyers as defendants to the lawsuit filed by Steven Landis.
"My clients lives were stopped for a period of time, while they had to deal with a sense and fact that they're still healing from these incidents that have happened to them this isn't about monetary compensation, this is about righting a wrong that occurred and making sure it doesn't happen to them or anyone else again," explained Attorney Devon Jacob.
