Matthew Becker will spend the rest of his life in prison for the death of his girlfriend and her unborn baby.

The jury was deadlocked and could not decide whether Becker deserved life in prison or the death penalty.  For that reason, he was sentenced to life in prison.

His formal arraignment is scheduled for March 28.

A jury has found Matthew Becker guilty of killing his girlfriend and her unborn baby.

A jury of six men and six women agreed with the prosecution and found Matthew Becker guilty of first degree murder.

He said it was a mistake, but the jury didn’t believe him. After deliberating for 11 hours, the jury found Matthew Becker guilty of first degree murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend 21-year-old Allison Walsh and third degree murder in the death of her unborn daughter. Walsh was seven months pregnant.

The shooting happened late at night on August 12, 2011. Matthew Becker said he had just finished cleaning his new pistol in his Mastersonville home.

While holding the firearm, he walked over to his bed, where Walsh, was lying. That is when he said it accidentally went off, hitting her in the head, killing her instantly. Her unborn baby died soon after.

Becker has been in jail since being arrested in the summer of 2011. The prosecutor in the case has said that he will seek the death penalty. A hearing regarding that will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

There should be no life sentence. He willfully killed. He can no longer contribute any good to society. Execute the trash.
