The Harrisburg City Police Department is searching for a man they say is endangered.
According to a press release, police are searching for 65-year-old Franklin McDonald.
Police say on Tuesday morning around 1:40, officers were called to the area of the YMCA on Front Street for a report of a man who might be thinking about jumping into the river. They say McDonald's girlfriend of 30 years said he was upset and had thoughts of ending things.
Officers found McDonald's car in the parking lot of an office building in the 700 block of North Front Street. Police searched the Riverfront Park and below the Dock Street Dam, but did not find any signs of McDonald. Police also used a helicopter to search the Susquehanna River from north of the Harvey Taylor Bridge and past the Dock Street Dam, but still did not find him.
McDonald is described as 5'7" tall, with a thin build and weighs about 140 pounds. Police say he has a graying beard and was last seen wearing a green army style jacket. He also wears glasses.
Anyone with information is asked to call Lt. Robert Fegan at 717-255-3114 or email rfegan@cityofhbg.com.
