EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania college is permitting its field hockey team to play in the NCAA tournament after forcing the team to forfeit games over a hazing investigation.
The team from East Stroudsburg University will play in the Division II championship tournament starting Saturday. The school had announced the team would sit out the conference and NCAA playoffs after launching an investigation late last month.
East Stroudsburg spokesman Doug Smith says the school's internal investigation is continuing but would not comment on the reason for the reversal.
Monroe County District Attorney David Christine says the school requested he investigate but he has determined there was no criminal activity.
East Stroudsburg is a state university near the Pocono Mountains.
